Nuestra familia militar by Suzan Johnson @shjstories (Our Military Family-English version)
We love Spanish books and we really enjoyed reading this cute story about a military family. This is a book that both military children to relate to and for civilian children to understand the daily sacrifices military families make for our freedom.
It is an easy read, illustrations are cute, and it is well translated.🙌You can find the book Here on Amazon.
The book includes a bonus glossary and appendix with ways we can support military families.🤝💙More than 1.7 million children have at least one parent serving in the military.
Books like this one are essential to teach about diversity and spread awareness of how we can make a difference by supporting these families.
We have many military family members from both sides of our family. How many military family members does your family have?
Note from the author:
Many families miss loved ones when they are away serving in the military. Sometimes the service men and women are away from moms, dads, brothers, and sisters. In this story Dad and the kids, Harmony and Dominic, are home missing mom. Mom is in the United States Army, and during her deployment, she is sometimes gone for up to 12 months. Throughout the book, you experience what the family has to do to cope without mom, all the while missing her. I hope this book is a testament to those families who make many sacrifices at home and abroad so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have.
